More painting practice during my morning commute. Initially created on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and then completed on a Wacom Cintiq Hybrid with Clover Paint. I spent some time experimenting with foliage brushes in Clover Paint.

During my Caltrain commute, I worked on this painting as I continue to teach myself how to paint.. Painted in Clover Paint on a Cintiq Companion Hybrid.

Hey Ellie.. I think you intended on the following link? www.alienthink.comI have two of the their products, they are pretty good. However their web page, while being creative and interesting, is horrible to look at.

Thanks for joining themefinlad. I work with two people from Finland and they taught me… "Mitä kuuluu?"
I have found that the Dev responds quickly to bug reports, so I will include feature requests with my bug submissions.
As for hardware, IMHO, the Cintiq Hybrid with Clover Paint is best mobile digital painting for now.
Key reasons: Full Wacom pen technology, 2048 levels, tilt. Hardware express keys Good sized screen Full customizable Expres Key functions in Clover Paint. It is great that Infinite Painter offers some pre-sets but falls far short of what Clover Paint does. Decent Battery Life
Clover Paint allows TWO customs functions per button, depending upon the position of the Stylus. I am surprised that no other developer does this as it add so much to work-flow.
However the CCH has older hardware, and Wacom will likely never update it.

I have only installed in on my Cintiq that is running 4.2.1 Jelly Bean. Be sure to read the notes the port seems to be vey much a WIP and is probably loaded with bugs, it is running in a virtual environment. One note actually says to not "uninstall" it as it may not be possible to reinstall. I have not had time to use it much yet, please post how it works for you?

Two graphics editors, ported from PC. You will need mouse, stylus, or 10” screen to use them. This app requires 1 Gb device storage (1.8 Gb during installation), and cannot be moved to SD card. GIMP is an advanced picture editor, suitable for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. Inkscape is a vector graphics editor, which has everything needed to create professional-quality computer art. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.gimp.inkscape&hl=enTake a long time to install and uses up a lot of space. Take a little while to load but runs on my Wacom Hybrid. Rather buggy, I am still testing this thing out.

Another app is called "Floating Image". It seems to be a Korean app. It creates a floating image when the image is "shared" from another image browser. Some what awkward to use and limited, but is functional.

Thanks for responding.
I saw your post and it also seems to be a viable solution. I really wanted a minimal app so it did not take up system resources after I tried Floating Apps and I did not want all the extra apps that it installs. There is also another one called "Tiny Apps Floating".

Much like Ellie, I like to have image reference when I am creating art on my tablet. Samsung has built in multi window functionality that really adds value to their Galaxy Note series. However for a Nivida Shield Tablet or Wacom Cintiq Companion users that functionality is not present. Additionally Samsung continue to evolve their multi window functionality, and I find their version on Jelly Bean (2012 10.1 Note) vs the KitKat version (2014 Note) as being more intuitive to use. Other solutions are needed. Google play has several "floating/multitask/pop-up" apps and very few dedicated image viewers. So far I have found two useful apps: Popup Image Viewer by ZZanGGaSoft This app activates by a screen edge slide in viewer. It has no editing capability but does provide a limited slide-show option. I have found this app very buggy and unstable when lots of images are on your device. Plus the UI is sluggish. There is free version and paid version, the difference only being the number of images that can be viewed. Tested on a 2012/14 10.1 Note, Nvidia Shield Tablet and a Cintiq Hybrid. Popup Gallery by AppBora This app opens by default as a "floating/multitask/pop-up" gallery browser window. It allows you to rotate or share images, and has no slide-show functions. I find this app to be quick and able to load many images without much effort when on a internal device storage. With images on external storage the viewer seems more unstable. This is a paid app only. I emailed the developer to add a customizable slide-show functionality, hopefully if they get enough requests it may happen. Tested on a 2012/14 10.1 Note, Nvidia Shield Tablet and a Cintiq Hybrid. Floating Pic by Savana This app allows you to select an image to float on the screen, one at a time. Very limited, very low resolution, needs to use another image viewer to select. This app is very small. Tested on a 2012/14 10.1 Note, a Cintiq Hybrid. PS: Does anyone know what the official label at Google for "floating/multitask/pop-up" is?

That is great news. Is there anyway to communicate to the developer to bind the color picker the stylus button, or provide the brush resize/erase like clover paint?
Cheers

Nirut Tamchoo posted recently on YouTube a direct painting comparison between the Wacom Cintiq Hybird and the 2014 Galaxy Note 10.1. It clearly shows how much better within LayerPaint the painting performance and file loading is on the Galaxy Note with regard to large files. CCHybrid vs Note2014CCHybrid Paint TestNote2014 Paint TestMuch of the difference might be attributed to the Note having 3GB and RAM vs the CCHybrid's 2GB of RAM. However the Note has a much higher resolution LCD display that likely negatively affects its performance as well. I admit I have been looking into getting a CCHybrid since I like it's screen size and build quality compared to flimsy/plastic feel on my Note2014. However after seeing this video comparison, I more skeptical on the value of the CCH. Finally, since The Note 4 has a much improved Stylus, it seems likely a future Note tablet will eclipse the CCH and perhaps explains why Wacom has quickly dropped the Android version of their tablet. IMHO it seems that for now the best Android based art tablet right now would be the Note 12.2 Pro LTE.

Can TVpaint be added to the list? It is rather expensive, but very powerful for animation and drawing/painting. THe software is available for Win. OSX, Linux, and Android. and seems to have the same capability for all platforms. www.tvpaint.com

On 2012 Jelly Bean, the multi window (floating) basically just works like in OSX or Win. The UI has minimize, maximize, Tear-off, and "Pin" on top. It is also compatible with many Apps.
On 2014 KitKat the Multi Window (floating) is called "Pen Window" The window is created by drawing out the frame with the pen and picking the app desired. Pen window is not compatible with the majority of apps and you need to ether root or use "MW_Pen App Enable" to modify apps for compatibility but it remains much much less.
IMHO the 2014 is a big step backwards. I have been able to restore most of the functionality that was lost in KitKat. The Pen window does have a couple new features that are nice, the ability to scale the window to most any size and minimize it to floating desktop icon.

Takashi sent out a fix a few hours after I sent in a report. Awesome.
CP is working great on both My 2012 and my 2014 notes. Cool.
Still getting used to Kitkat. IMHO Jelly Bean is much better and easier to use. KitKat significantly changed the way Multi-Window works and is really crappy in comparison to Jelly Bean.

I have been enjoying this awesome app for several months now using a older Galaxy note 10.1 (2012) Android 4.1.2
I just updated to a New Note 10.1 (2014) Android 4.4.2 but I cannot get Clover paint to run.
Upon trying to launch the app after installing, I get the error message
"Unfortunately, Clover Paint has stopped"
I tried restarting the device, and deleting then re-installing CP and still cannot get it to run.
Has anyone else encountered this?
