Hello, new to the forums here!
I have been using clover paint for a month now and it has very quickly shaped up to be the best drawing app for my cintiq hybrid. However I have noticed there is no gradient tool? Is there any workarounds to that in the app that anyone is aware, any info would be greatly appreciated.
Another things is about custom brushes. I have made a handful of custom brushes to simulate some of the brushes in photoshop, but most of them lag pretty badly when I use them. I have set the inerval magnification to 0.55 which is the highest I can go without the edges of the stroke getting all jaggy and stuff. Any other tricks I could do to make the brush strokes less laggy or remove the jaggy edges otherwise?
Thanks in advance!

As far as I know there really isn't any way to get gradients in Clover Paint. You might try playing around with airbrush layers and see if you can get the effect of gradients. I have had the lag problem with big brushes too. The only way I have found to decrease lag is to reduce the size of the brushes. Here is a user guide that shows some of the basics of Clover Paint. Sorry I can't be more helpful. The best way to learn Clover Paint is to just start pressing buttons and see what happens, lol! hemiolan.deviantart.com/art/Clover-Paint-User-Guide-370308786

hmm, suppose I might as well send a request for that feature to be implemented to the creator of the app in that case, as I'd wager I am not the only one who misses that. Aye, I have tried a plethora of things, including decreasing the brush size, however that is not very feasible when I am trying to make backgrounds which require large brush strokes. Oh well, I suppose I might keep clover paint as a tool to create character art and then make the backgrounds with photoshop on my PC.

Have you tried Infinite Painter? You can get in the beta testing group and right now we are testing bigger canvas sizes and trying to stabilize that function. It has gradients and patterns. The Infinite Painter developer is very responsive and really works to add new features. The Clover Paint developer also tries to help you, so it's a good idea to ask about gradients. The big brush lag is kind of why I don't use Clover Paint as much as Infinite Painter and some of the others.

Oh yeah I've tried it. However I feel that their menu system succeeds in being even less intuitive than clover paints as you need to tap more than once to change opacity, size etc. different brushes are also sort of hidden behind a button. There's some other problems with the app that I really dislike which I'm not gonna count here. The main reason why I don't like it, and pretty much every other art app on android apart from clover paint, is that you cannot use the express keys on the cintiq hybrid to change the opacity or size of the brush for an example. The fact that you can also use a keyboard with clover paint gets it some mad props.

Yes, most android apps are touch focused and aren't set up for hot keys. Have you thought about getting a Surface Pro tablet? The price of the Surface Pro 3 is going down since 4 is coming out and it has a keyboard.

Not really, I bought my cintiq hybrid second hand not too long ago. I was a bit on the edge whether I would buy a surface or a cintiq, but I settled for the cintiq due to the fact that I primarily wanted to use it as a stylus input tablet on my PC, the mobility is mainly just a bonus for me, but one that I greatly appreciate.

Mobility is what I like the best about tablets. I really don't like being hooked to my desktop PC because I am always having to do several things at once, haha.

I hear ya! Actually just recently as I have gotten more and more familiar with using cloverpaint I have started to like it more than I would have expected, I guess it was a similar learning curve that I had with photoshop as well, at start I didn't like using it but after awhile it became much more natural. On the several things at once point you made, that is the reason why I have 2 monitors + the cintiq, gotta have room for the references and youtube videos! (also having the power of a PC helps a bunch in digital painting)

Thanks for joining themefinlad. I work with two people from Finland and they taught me… "Mitä kuuluu?"
I have found that the Dev responds quickly to bug reports, so I will include feature requests with my bug submissions.
As for hardware, IMHO, the Cintiq Hybrid with Clover Paint is best mobile digital painting for now.
Key reasons: Full Wacom pen technology, 2048 levels, tilt. Hardware express keys Good sized screen Full customizable Expres Key functions in Clover Paint. It is great that Infinite Painter offers some pre-sets but falls far short of what Clover Paint does. Decent Battery Life
Clover Paint allows TWO customs functions per button, depending upon the position of the Stylus. I am surprised that no other developer does this as it add so much to work-flow.
However the CCH has older hardware, and Wacom will likely never update it.
