If you have rooted. you also have the option of overclocking your device to squeese that bit extra performance out of it. I used to OC my note 8 as well as undervolt it, but didnt like how hot it got. Now i have it at stock clock speeds but slightly undervolted to improve the battery life.
In addition you have apps like "greenify". This can be used to stop apps opening themselves up in the background on their own accord to refresh. This allows you to improve your battery life and the performance of the apps you are running.
Finally. Task killers arent really recommended for Android as Android is designed to fill up the RAM as you go to allow quick access to multiple apps. This doesnt really help with RAM heavy apps such as clover paint. So I kill all other apps using the shortcut on "taskbar 7". This normally free's up about half a gig of RAM for me.

agreed. id love to try it on the newer note pro. I think that has 3gb ram. I think its the ram that constrains it the most. have you tried launching the app through another programme to ensure that it can get all the resources possible allocated to it?
i have iobit advance mobile care on my tablet. it has a "game speeder" module in it that closes other background apps and stops them from opening while you use what ever app you launch through it. would be interested if you see a difference with it or if its just a placebo effect im getting.

A list of all the available short cut options. I will take a look at the default short cut options for photoshop and manga studio before I decide how im going to re assign these.

you can float any of the menu's anywhere if you wish if you have the "pro" version (cant remember what they call it in this app or have them docked in any one of the edges. you can also have 3 levels of windows instead of 2 when you press the menu button. ill put up a screen shot of mine later. I have colour options on the left, brushes and layer options on the right and pen thickness/opacity/flow at the bottom on the first option. then i just have my colour palette on my second option. the third is just the plain canvas. you can also set it so that the windows are hidden when you put the pen on the tablet which i find usefull. i have two finger pinch zoom enabled, single finger pan, and have dissabled my finger from anything other than panning. i like the 3 finger flip view function as well.

Added layerpaint HD to the list but dont know much about it so many of the blend modes and other functions etc are left blank...
At the moment I'm only concentrating on CloverPaint as it seems the most feature rich app for Android from what I can tell and I want to get the best out of it rather than dipping in and out of various apps which is what I had been doing in the past.

I have my default with a light tan drawing paper type colour background with a clear layer on top (third option). fixed frame size 1920 x 1080 (HD).
My sketching brush tapers ever so slightly. is opaque. and has a brush texture pattern to give that grainy graphite on paper look

starting to get to grips with the custom brush settings. still don't understand what all the options do but I have a brush that now replicates pencil on paper well which Ian happy with.

Might want to add a section for creating your own brushes. Layer paint HD will let you do that. And layer paint has a tablet version as well. not tried layer paint HD yet, still exploring all the options on Clover paint. What additional functions do you get over regular layer paint? 1'U update the dot during the week. Sent from my GT-N5110 using proboards

The default shortcuts are a bit of a mess... I'm going customise them into something with a bit more logic. by going into settings -> config, you can set your own shortcut keys. Im going to order a bluetooth keyboard this week so that I can take advantage of this.

While not strictly a mobile platform I'm continued to be drawn towards this windows 8 machine. Stylus enabled and with an 11.6 inch screen it has the features and form factor that make it an ideal drawing companion. We have the atom, 2gb ram, version at work which I downloaded GIMP onto. It's really nice. I think the core i5 version with 4gb RAM is a must though as it will soon get used up once you start adding several layers to your peices. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00B3Q9V5K/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2SV9ALFBCBWRE&coliid=I303QVLGUKPBJ2&psc=1I should be getting a bit of the money in the summer. Hopefully this will have dropped further by then, or may I can get my brother in the US to bring one back for me once he comes home. We shall see. It wont be a replacement for my Note 8. That will always be my travel companion. It will be my stay at home machine take out occasionally when required. The apps I used on my tablet output in PSD format so I should not have an issue with cross compatibility, and I'll use a service such as DropBox to store my work in progress. I will most likely use Manga Studio EX 5 as my main software. Although I've never used it before I've seen enough clips and read enough reviews to decide that its probably my best choice for drawing. I use lightroom rather than photoshop for my photos anyway.

I paid for it as well. Cant remember the feature I particularly wanted at the time though. I've not used it much since though. Starting to go to some live drawing classes as of next week so will hopefully make some more use of it there.

You can now edit a stroke after you made it. Move it, bend it or change brush settings. this will be great for inking sketches!

I had a subscription to ImagineFX for a while but got fed up after the majority of the techniques they described did not translate to any android apps. That has changed lately though and CloverPaint has added some fantastic options.

That lenovo doesn't appear to have a digitizer layer though which would rule it out for me. I'd happily pay and additional £100 or so for that functionality.

Blimey. That is a large tablet. I've been looking at getting the Samsung Windows ATIV PRO, but its going to be months before I can afford anything new. I love android but I would like fully functioning work horse tablet as well. My work flow would then be Android for sketches and rough work. Windows for detail, finishing etc...
