Corel Painter 2020 for Windows and Mac has been released. Most of the changes have been to create faster brushes. They have simplified the UI and the brush settings, but the biggest feature has been the addition of the new brush accelerator function which runs off of your computer's GPU, video graphics card, and computer cores instead of just the computer cores. However, this brush accelerator seems to only work with higher spec computers. Corel Painter runs a test to see if your components meet the requirements for the new brush accelerator, if it doesn't (which mine don't ) you can still run Painter, but it will be like Painter 2019. I recommend downloading the trial version first to see if you want to upgrade. There are a few new brushes designed to work with the brush accelerator, but they will work even if computer doesn't meet brush accelerator requirements, they just won't paint as fast. To buy Corel Painter new costs $429 and the upgrade is $125 for a limited time then it increases to $229.
