While scouring the internet for news of the new SketchBook Pro update and ArtRage for android (still no news), I stumbled across a couple of new apps, Crayola Digitools Paint and Ibis Paint X. The Crayola app is mainly designed for kids and has stickers, stencils, paintbrushes, and coloring pages. To unlock the full app there is an IAP, but I would recommend trying the free features first to make sure it works. The UI is fun and well designed, but I noticed it has some responsiveness problems with the s pen. The other app, Ibis Paint X has the potential to be really good. It has a lot of advanced features such as layers with blending modes, advanced brush controls, two blending brushes, and a playback feature. You can upload your painting to the Ibis website where people can watch the playback online or download it and watch it. There is also a feature to upload it to the Ibis YouTube channel or your own channel. In order to view playback, you have to have a 3rd party video player such as your default tablet video player. It has 20 brushes including dip pen, felt tip pen, digital pen, several variations on airbrushes, round paintbrushes, and flat paintbrushes plus finger blend and blur. It also has a lasso tool, paint bucket, magic wand, eyedropper and eraser. The brushes are not as advanced Clover Paint or Infinite Painter, but are more like the Fresco Paint app. This app was released first on ios and has just been brought over to android. Overall, it seems to be a pretty nice app.
