Been playing around with my new Note 4 and thought i would try my old Note 3 styluseses..es...... I could get lighter lines that were almost impossible to achieve with the Note 4 stylus... I may just have a bad N4 stylus, but both of my N3 stylus have a much wider range in the lower end of the pressure curve.... I tested in multiple apps with the same results. Can anyone confirm or refute this? I know the N4 stylus is supposed to have twice the levels. But wondering if the implementation was botched somewhere along the line in the OS or something.... I found the easiest way to demonstrate the difference is to lightly draw some circles using both. I wouldn't have even noticed the reduced pressure curve if i hadn't tried them side by side. But after doing so, I am * DEFINITELY* seeing no benefit when it comes to the N4's doubled pressure sensitivity Thanks

I checked for this problem on other forums and so far no one has mentioned this, but I did see someone had a problem with the screen not always registering a touch. He didn't say if he was using his finger or the stylus, so I don't know if it's the same problem that you are having. Another person was having trouble with the stylus calibration being off slightly in one corner of his screen.

Hmmm.. I haven't experienced either of those issues. Good to know though. Thanks

Verified this today at ATT store with an employee's white Note 4 stylus. My Note4 is black, fwiw. Adjusting the pressure curve in your brush/app settings will be a must now if you want to take advantage of the lowest pressure levels. The linear default no longer covers the full range adequately with an N4 spen

So is it because the apps don't recognize the new s pen pressure levels on the Note 4 and they have to calibrated individually?

From my understanding, the issue is within the spen itself. I'm mainly basing that on the info in this video on "tuning" a Note 2 spen... youtu.be/qRbh4cOpKzMI pried the button off my N4 spen (as seen in vid), and there were no adjustment screws like on the N2 :/ It would be great if the apps just need to be updated to recognize the new N4 spen... I'm afraid that's not the case, but we can hope

I bought one from Best Buy a few days after the Note 3 was released last year. It was a bad unit or older model that didn't work well at all. Took it back, but they didn't have another one to replace it. Never got around to trying another one... Sounds like it may be the best bet if the N4 spen issue doesn't get worked out in some way. I also made some spen holders that work pretty well, and are a little more portable. I lose access to the button when using those though.
I don't mean to imply that the N4 spen is no good. the difference is only noticeable, to me, on really light strokes.

That is really strange. The Note 4 is supposed to be the most advanced note device Samsung has made. I don't understand why their pen won't work correctly. Have you tried drawing on another Note 4 phone? Does it do that on other Note 4 phones?

No, i haven't. Will try to stop by someplace and try one just to be sure. Would be strange since it works great with both of my old note3 spens though.... Again- It's not a HUGE deal. If i hadn't compared the two pens, i probably wouldn't have thought much about it.
Will report back when i've tried another Note4.
