Just got back from holiday. Was nice appart from having our Villa broken into and most of our valuables stolen.
I've lost a laptop, tablet, phone, mp3 player, noise cancelling headphones and a few other small bits. Currently trying to find all my receipts as proof of purchase for the insurance. Dont think im going to get much money back though.
Not sure what I'm going to get next though when what ever money I do get comes in. They may just send me replacement items which would be great but the mp3 player, laptop and camera are old models so cant get them any more.
Id like to get a stylus enabled laptop if I can, but if I do I dont know whether to get a note 8 again or a non stylus 8 inch tablet to save money. Didnt use the stylus as much as I had planned and if I had a larger screened machine, Id use that for drawing instead.

Oh no! How awful! That was a nasty surprise! What a nuisance and you'll have to cancel all your accounts. Hopefully the insurance will pay for some of it. If it's any consolation, the Note 10.1 tablets are getting cheaper, even the 2014 ones. I hope things work out for you. Good Luck!

Just bought an old 2009 laptop of eBay for £110. Fujitsu Lifebook T5010 13.3 inch tablet/laptop. has wacom stylus input the resolution is not that great (same as the note 8 but much larger screen, I'm sure I wont mind as integrated graphics cant run high resolutions screens well anyway), but the processor is ok. I'll upgrade the RAM and hard drive with what ever I can get through insurance. I can also replace the dvd drive with a second battery so I can get a decent run time out of it. Looks like I can get second hand note 8 for about £60-80 off ebay. I'll wait to see what the insurance says before I purchase anything else though...

It's good that you found something right away. All of my computers and tablets are refurbished or used so I know you can get good deals on used stuff. It looks like Amazon and Ebay are having pretty good summer deals on things right now so maybe you can find some good bargains.

New laptop has arrived but i havent had a chance to test it out yet. Not found a tablet for the right price yet but got a few on watch.
I've narrowed down my long term laptop replacement to either a Sony Vaio duo 11 or duo 13, but havent decided what yet. I think it will come down to what I can get for a better price.
Vaio 11 (late 2011). - £385 ish
Vaio 13 (mid 2013). - £575 ish.
It comes down to whether a larger screen, double the battery life and a slightly better graphics chip is worth and additional £150-£200. They have the same screen resolution, RAM and the CPU performance is about the same. They are also about the same weight. The 13 also has a dock for the stylus where as the 11 requires an additional battery to include a stylus dock and to compete battery life wise.
Despite the additional cost, I'm swayed towards the 13.

Those look pretty good. The Vaio 13 looks like the nicest one. I don't know if you can get stuff from tigerdirect.com, but they have a lot of refurbished electronics. The 64 GB Note Pro 12.2 finally dropped down into the five hundreds again so I got one. The 32 GB is in the 4 hundreds (dollars) on ebay right now. I really like it. The screen keyboard is big enough to type two handed on it. It is a little faster than my other Samsung tablets. The best thing I like about it is when I am hooked up to my desktop PC with Splashtop, it doesn't squish all the icons together and I get the full screen for the big computer painting programs. The screen has higher resolution and games look pretty good. It is sort of annoying when the games are in portrait mode, but they play very well. I was disappointed that the WormWorld Saga didn't display properly on this tablet. It would have looked so good, but I guess the size of the screen is too big for the app. As far as I can tell most drawing apps work well on this tablet. I did have a little bit of trouble with Sketcher Pro, but then it started working. This tablet has floating apps and four multi-windows. To me, it's not any heavier than my Asus TF 300T. The back is not slick like the others and I like that. I will have to play around with it some more to see what all it does, but so far I like it a lot.

I might wait before I get a tablet, not sure yet. depends what comes up at the right price. I still like the 8 inch form factor, I just wish the resolution of the Note 8.0 was higher and that it had a little more RAM and 32GB storage. I wish the tabpro 8.4 has spen support basically

I bet they will have a new note 8 out soon. Maybe even next year. There are rumors floating around, so we'll see.

I have a surface pro now. that should fill my needs for a tablet and computer for a while now although I would still like a small tablet. Still looking at second hand Note 8s
