Infinite Painter got a big new update today. The brushes menu has been redesigned , the main UI redone a little bit, and a lot of bugs are fixed. The watercolor brushes seem to be working better and a new export function for different sizes has been added. Here's a log of the changes from Sean. (Also congratulations to Sean for his new baby!)
-Added layer blend modes. -Redesigned Edit mode (was Enhance Mode). Focuses more on filters and photo effects that can be added to a painting or photograph. -Redesigned brush manager. Better design for phones and renamed brush folders. -More undo / redo. I spent a great deal of time perfecting this to take as little memory as possible. It now works great for hatching. -Consolidated Clone Mode to Paint Mode when a source is imported. -Added multiple filters and effects to Edit Mode -Define size at export. I do not have a cap on this yet, so please be careful not to crash. :/ -Added stroke texture to create more complex brushes

Was finally able to try the beta today (link for Note version was broken). I'm really liking the changes and additions a lot! It's not as responsive as the previous version, and still seems to have quite a few glitches. But i think when it gets it's final polish, it'll be the sketching/painting app that best fits my needs =) ....Otherwise, it'll be back to Clover Paint (reluctantly). Though Painter Mobile may also be an alternative for me soon(?) One thing that bugs me with the Note version of IP is the toggle button for touch input. There doesn't seem to be a way to remove it, and i *never* use it Anyone know if the non-note version is missing anything other than that button? If it has full support for the spen, i think i'll switch over to it instead.

The note version is supposed to have full support for the s pen. Also, you can go into settings and set up your workspace buttons. The sidebar menu can be moved to the bottom corners, other side, or top and bottom middle. Infinite Painter is my favorite painting app, but you might export your work from time to time because there is a vanishing layers bug that Sean is trying to fix.

Yeah. I guess i should stay with the Note version, and try to ignore that ever-present "no finger" button taking up canvas space I can post a sshot if you haven't seen what i'm talking about I'm not seeing any of those options you mentioned :/ Those may be settings that only show on screens larger than my note 4's though(?) I have settings for Interface, Workflow, Hardware, and Stylus. Not seeing it under any of those sections though... I'm able to hold-drag things from the additional tools popup menu into the top bar, but that's all i'm seeing as far as customization of the layout. Please let me know if you think i may be overlooking something Thanks!

I guess I'm not understanding which button you mean for no finger. Maybe it's not on my tablets. I'll post some shots from the UI on my Note Pro 12.2 and you can compare them to your version. The sidebar on the left can be moved to other places around the canvas edge.

Ah. Yeah, must only show up on smaller screens... The icon sitting out on the canvas is what i've been going on about It's there even when the gui is toggled off. All it does is make the device ignore your finger completely so that you can't even tap a button or pinch zoom. Dunno when i'd ever want to have it enabled It was in the last version as well, but was a pen icon.... Ah well. Thanks for your help and posting the screenshots. It explained a lot Oh, and yeah those are the settings i was looking in for the option to change the placement of sidebar. It must always bee on the bottom (portrait) or top (landscape) on the note phone screens i guess. That's where i'd want it anyway though i guess.

Apparently that must be for phones. That would be annoying. You can also make the sidebar menu like the original Infinite Painter on my tablet. Here's a screenshot of that.

Nice!! I always thought an iPad would remain my tablet of choice. The way things are progressing with the android painting apps lately, i may have to reconsider... iOS still seems more trouble free to me, and Procreate is still the best painting app i've tried so far. But the Note series with it's spen (and maybe some other android tablets(?)), i'm definitely reconsidering

The Galaxy Note tablets are my favorite tablets. I really like my Note Pro 12.2 for big projects and my two smaller Note 8 and Note 10.1 tablets are great for carrying around as sketchbooks. The s pen is just as good as a resistive screen tablet. For me, I don't want to go back to screens without a digitizer. Plus the Galaxy Notes are much more affordable than the Wacom hybrids.

Ha! That's awesome =) I'd probably be wanting a few models too if i could spend more time on 2d image creation. Desktop apps are still required for most of what i have to do.... Would like to pick your brain when i'm able to buy =)

I use a lot of desktop apps too, but I hook my tablets up to my desktop PC using the Splashtop Remote Desktop HD app. So I actually use my Note tablets to paint in Painter 2015, ArtRage 4.5, Twisted Brush and SketchBook Pro 7. It's not perfect because you can't use keyboard shortcuts or pressure sensitivity, but you can compensate by setting the brushes up to respond to velocity and adjust the thickness and opacity of the lines manually. I'm not sure how 3D software like Blender would work using the Splashtop app. I know that Autodesk's Create 3D, Poser 10, and SketchUp respond just fine through the Splashtop app (I just have to learn how to use them, lol). But again you can't use the shortcut keys, you have to use menu commands.
